It’s fascinating to see how trends develop and how the different design disciplines interact and draw inspiration from each other. Fashion, architecture, product design – there seems to be an invisible connection between them all. For example, just a few weeks ago at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, fashion designer Marc Jacobs brought formerly outdated polka dots pack into fashion with a bang. Now we know that months prior “dots“ already had a firm place in somebody’s mind at a Mercedes-Benz Design Center. The new Mercedes Concept A-CLASS will have its world premiere at the Shanghai Motor Show 21 to 28 April. The city, which has been described as “a metropolis with sharp edges” is a fitting place to introduce the new concept car. We see “sexy shoulders”, free-form sides with lines inspired by waves, an interior that finds it’s roots in aviation and the amazing new front grill with inverted mesh resulting in a “modern jewellery effect”, that will leave the competition gasping.

But see for yourself – we have a first set of photos for you of what might well be the pulse of a new generation (slideshow above). Or listen to one of Mercedes-Benz’ exterior designers Mark Fetherston talking about the car in the video above. To find out more go to the offical Mercedes-Benz Concept A-CLASS page here.
