Do the clothes make the person? They definitely make a statement about who you are. And what about the car? More importantly: Does it measure up to your own reflection of who you are? This is the question internationally renowned fashion critic Luke Leitch poses in our video.

What could a man whose career is steeped in Haute Couture possibly know about motors? you might quip. The adrenaline flow of a predatory machine roaring to life around you, the resistance and satisfactory give as the gears shift, the interior scent of untouched leather and suede, the propulsion system surging you forward with flawless speed - how could you expertly gauge that, when normally seated in front of a catwalk rather than behind a steering-wheel? A valid point indeed.

But if you have a standard like Mercedes-Benz does, then you know the driving experience and the technology is part of a reputation that leaves no room for compromise. With that expectancy, the architecture of an item of clothing, that of a building, a finely presented dish, and even the architecture of a car all comes down to one binding fundamental: the object MUST visually appeal to you.

So it stands to reason that Luke Leitch's voice is an authority when it comes to the brand new Mercedes Concept Style Coupé. After all, he's spent over a decade setting aside brands or reputation, and instead critiquing proportion, silhouette, and function. In addition, the Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz, Gordon Wagener, shares that the Coupé's "breathtaking proportions, sinewy fluid surfaces and sculptural lines are the physical expression of [their] dynamic design idiom", a car that sporty mid-size cars will be measuring up to in the future.

A closer look reveals the esthetic freedoms and finessing that Leitch describes as "non-negotiable" in design. For example, the Coupé features the diamond-look grill that you might remember from the Concept A-CLASS. The Alubeam-paint exterior shell also suits up a 200 plus horsepower engine, an efficient 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission, and a turbo-charged direct injection system feeding an enhanced combustion system.

The interior is no less striking: Trim elements and control panels are in a black anodized finish. The jet engine-esque air vents are backlit and change colors according to airflow temperatures. The COMAND Online multimedia system running off the Daimler Vehicle Backend, keeps the driver "Always On" in terms of a digital online lifestyle while seated within a fashionable light gray and anthracite interior streaked with sporty neon-green accents.

In essence, with the Concept Style Coupé, you have power and style, perfection and plasticity, non-conformism and provocation.
