Mixed Tape "Prime Choices"
Our brand new instalment is ready for download – a prime selection of stunning songs by our favourite up-and-coming artists
Mixed Tape Prime Choices offers a coulourful bouquet of moods, atmospheres, timbres, beats and musical genres. According to the motto “anything goes, as long as it’s brimming with passion and talent” our editorial team has compiled the perfect soundtrack for the upcoming autumn featuring ten lucent songs that evoke the manifold colours and shades of this gorgeous season.
Culled from a huge variety of genres, from fragile folk melancholia to rousing funky beats, all of the following songs are undisputed Prime Choices – and prime cuts of emerging artists from all corners of the world. This collection of musical highlights outlines the most sonorous, touching and beautiful tracks we’ve stumbled upon during the last eight weeks. We’ve strung these beads to a continuous aural delight featuring irresistibly poppy sounds from the Minneapolis-based singer Vague-à-bonde, Brit-flavoured indie grooves by The Just from Novosibirsk, compelling nu funk with a hint of afrobeat by Bristol’s hottest Papa Le Gál, jazzy folk pop with a tinge of minor key melancholia by Brazil-based band Mykonos Flame, atmospheric alternative pop from Californian Ashley Macachor, a beautiful ballad by New York singer-songwriter duo Just Kids, passionate piano pop with spellbinding vocals by Joanna Cooke from Plymouth, 1980s inspired electro pop by Berlins Antientertainers, soulful downbeat by the Franco-Italian collaboration Kali & Evil Needle and an epic love song by Soular from the Netherlands.
All of these tracks are united in their intensity and honest, heartfelt love of life and music. On hand to translate the magic is LA-based painter Sage Vaughn whose cover art layers and mixes these key shades to visualise the “consequences“ of the compilation’s rich mix of passionate sounds as wispy, ephemeral winged creatures who veer a little too close to the light.
Mixed Tape Music and mb! Magazine would like to thank all featured musicians for their brilliant contributions and the outstanding cover artist Sage Vaughn for his singular artwork.
